Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s career comes to an end

“One Hundred Years of Solitude” and “Love in the Times of Cholera” author Gabriel Garcia Marquez will no longer be writing award-winning novels of magical realism.

The Colombian author is suffering from dementia and will no longer be able to write.

It’s sad when an author dies, but maybe even more sad when something stops them from continuing to write when they have so much time and potential left.

Marquez wrote some wonderful stories, and even if he soon forgets, he won’t be soon forgotten.

  1. This is SO sad. He’s truly a magician, or a magic maker. He is the king of magical realism. I might have to read some of Solitude today just for him. Thank you for sharing.

  2. He is one of the true greats when it comes to words. Very sad day but to put a (kind of) positive spin to it, in a selfish way, i’m now more inspired than usual to go and finish collecting all his works.
