On a blustery day

Just the other day my mom sent me an e-mail. Big news in the world of books is rare, but the news she had to tell was not good news. There will be a new Winnie-the-Pooh book, and it will include a new character (some girly otter that wears pearls.) Now you’re probably wondering “What’s wrong with that? How cute!” No. It’s not cute at all. I’m one for the classics. For originality.  A. A. Milne did not OK this new book — not that he could have, but still…

This is the first new book in more than 80 years. Why is it necessary now? They say in this article[http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/05/books/05pooh.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=pooh%20bear&st=cse] that they haven’t changed anything.

I don’t care. Pooh Bear and the stories about him and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood should stay as they are. Happily sealed away as old and classic tales that can be passed down from generations going back decades. Not a year.
